Rapid Response Team Chainsaw Training

The HEART 9/11 Rapid Response Team participated in Chainsaw Safety Level 1 training and a Storm Damage refresher at Connetquot River State Park in Oakdale, NY. The two day training introduced the team to open face felling, personal protective equipment, chainsaw safety features, reactive forces, bore cutting, pre-planning the fell, and understanding hinge wood strength. Damaged, dead, and previously blown down trees are used for this course.
