We Remember Rose Glancy
HEART 9/11 offers its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Rose Glancy. Rose and her husband Peter, were longtime friends and supporters of HEART 9/11. They had immigrated from Ireland, becoming a true American success story. Peter was a U.S. Army veteran and served the people of NYC as an FDNY firefighter. Following Superstorm Sandy, the Glancy family opened their home to serve as the operations base for HEART 9/11 to help their neighbors. Rose would greet us every morning with a pot of tea and coffee, and a warm and friendly "good morning" in her strong Irish brogue.
Today, a HEART 9/11 trailer of emergency equipment bearing Peter Glancy's name proudly responds to veteran and first responder home builds/modifications as well as disaster responses.
After Peter passed away, Rose and her family continued to support HEART 9/11. Rose believed in giving back to the community, and her support has enabled us to continue answering the call to respond to disasters where lives are at risk. HEART 9/11 is incredibly grateful for the Glancy family's support and for helping us make a difference in the world. We mourn Rose's loss but celebrate her life. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
